Main HDD Drilling Equipment

1. American Augers DD140B Directional Drill

American Augers DD140B. Strega's largest drill. This drill is used for up to 36 inch steel pipelines and rock work with lengths of up to 1,500 metres. The DD140 is matched together with an American Augers MP 400 bentonite recycling and pumping system.

2. Vermeer D80 X 100 Directional Drill

Strega's first drill. This drill is used mainly for the installation of steel gas pipelines and large diameter HDPE pipes. With 80,000 pounds of pullback force and 10,000 foot pounds of torque Strega uses this drill to pull up to 24 inch diameter steel pipe and lengths up to 1,100 metres.

3. Vermeer D50 X 100 Directional Drill

The D50 x 100 was purchased used. It's primary functions was to act as a back up unit to the D80 x 100. The D50's added benefit is that it used the same tooling and drill rods as the D80. The machine has the capability of installing pipelines up to 24 inches in diameter and lengths of up to 600 metres.

4. Vermeer D24 X 40a Directional Drill

Strega typically uses the D24 X 40a for the installation of bundles of HDPE pipes, usually for the MEA, PEA, and the TOT. Bundle diameters of up to 24 inches and lengths of up to 150 metres. Occasionally this drill is used for the installation of small diameter steel pipelines.

5. Vermeer D16 X 20a Directional Drill

The D16 X 20a is our smallest machine and is used in areas where there is limited space. Purchased with the rubber track option, the D16 X 20a is also used in areas where prevention of damage to foot paths and roads is a concern. Typically this machine is used to install small diameter HDPE and PVC pipes with lengths up to 150 metres long.

6. American Augers MP 400

American Augers MP 400 bentonite recycling and pumping system.

7. Vermeer D80 x 100 Series II

Purchased in January 2007. The D80 x 100 Series II replaces Strega's first D80 and has become the companys' main workhorse. This drill is used mainly for the installation of steel gas pipelines and large diameter HDPE pipes. With 80,000 pounds of pullback force and 10,000 foot pounds of torque Strega uses this drill to pull up to 24 inch diameter steel pipe and lengths up to 1,100 metre
