THE CHALLENGE:
In
May 2001, Strega was enlisted to install two parallel
steel gas pipelines totally 296 meters for PTT. The
type of HDD project is unusual in Thailand and required
an extremely high degree of accuracy as the six- and
eight-inch steel pipes had to be installed within one
meter of each other.
THE SOLUTION:
Laying
parallel pipe requires very careful pre-bore planning
and crews that are specially trained in using cable
transmitters or "locators". Strega's crew
followed the bore plan and monitored the position of
the drill head for the entire length of the bore with
pinpoint accuracy. Afterwards, the pipe was successfully
pulled through the pilot holes.
